in these pumps, only the pump head is vertically immersed in the liquid. The outside of the motor above is still dry. The pump can only be inhaled normally and cannot be self-priming.

Another type of this pump is a horizontal dry-mounted pump with only one suction pump immersed in the liquid. These pumps must be self-priming in order to vent the suction line in order to be able to initiate the pumping process.
